Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a meditative, slow paced type of Yoga, most of it done either sitting or lying down in whichever position you're most comfortable. Yin Yoga targets our fascia and connective tissues which benefits joint health and increases mobility. The main areas focused on are hips, thighs, hamstrings, calves, lower back and shoulders. You'll be holding deep and passive shapes for longer than usual and this stillness has a very relaxing and restorative effect on both body and mind as we attempt to find ease in any sensations that might arise physically, mentally or emotionally.

Since we'll stay in the holds longer than usual in Yoga, it's essential that you're comfortable, so make sure you have one or two generous cushions available for support, yoga blocks (or books about 2 inches high) to sit on or to support any part of your body, and possibly even a blanket to stay warm and snuggly throughout.

You do NOT need to be able to turn into a Pretzel or be flexible as a rubber band to join - Yin Yoga is about finding a position where you can be at east but that gives you a stretch at an edge that's right just for you right there and then.
