Liquid breakfast...

Beetroot & blyeberry smoothie

Exactly as seedy as it sounds! I'm having a real beetroot moment and I've used this lovely juicy ingredient for salads, low fat cakes, burgers and smothies lately. Not only is beetroot deliciously tasty with its earthy flavour and beautiful color, but it's also packed with nitrates which help to lower your blood pressure and when you're exercising beetroot also boosts your ozygen intake. This morning I needed a real power boost to set me up for the barre class ahead, so I made a tasty looking smoothie combining:

- 2 boiled beetroot

- half a pummel of blueberries

- a big chunk of raw ginger

- a few teaspoons of linseeds (however much you like really, again brilliant for a healty heart to maintain the good cholesterol levels...)

- a small banana

- 2 cups of coconut water (much lower fat than yoghurt, and with delicious flavour)

- one or two loaded teaspoons of baobab, love that super fruit for a lovely glow to the skin

Blitz through your Nutri-Bullet or similar, and possibly add some extra coconut water or ice to get a consistency that works for you. Total calorie intake should be well below 200 kcals. Tasty, colourful and fillling - treat yourself to a liquid breakfast, it's a tempting morning cocktail with a healthy twist!
